International Healthcare News: Expatriate 'accused of pushing wife off cliff'

An expatriate has been accused of pushing his Australian wife off a cliff while camping with her out of "sheer greed for money".
Desmond Campbell, a 52-year-old ambulance driver and former policeman, was living in debt when he pushed his wife of six months, Janet Campbell, off a 170ft cliff to her death in 2005, the Supreme Court in Sydney was told.
The expatriate had emigrated to Australia from Britain with his parents when he was young.
Crown prosecutor Mark Tedeschi told the court that Mr Campbell "had no intention of living a normal life with Janet Campbell, who was besotted with him".
"The Crown case is that the accused Des Campbell never had any real intention of living a proper, normal, long-term family life with Janet Campbell," he said.
'His only purpose in marrying her was to obtain money from her. Having obtained a very substantial amount of money from her, he no longer had any further use for her and he needed to dispose of her."
The trial of the expatriate continues.
