International Health Insurance News: Expats muck in for Turkish school project
03/03/10 13:00
Expats in Turkey have lent their expertise to a project to breathe new life into a local village school.
Writing for Today's Zaman's Expat Zone, expat resident Alan Fenn explained that the project had been made possible by funds raised from a book promoting the village of Okcular.
"The popularity of the book was such that we were able to provide a play park for the children within a few months; our second project was to brighten the village school by planting gardens and painting lively murals on the outside walls," he explained.
Working with local residents and fellow expats Fiona MacRae, a retired headteacher from Scotland, and artist Janet Surman, Mr Fenn embarked on a three-month project to spruce up the school, with all parties agreeing that the experience had been thoroughly rewarding.
Finding an exciting and inspiring learning environment for one's children may be an important consideration for expats moving to a new country, while family expat health insurance policies may also be a priority.
For those moving to Turkey, Easy Expat has recognised a number of respected international schools in Istanbul that may be enticing.
