International Health Insurance News: Expat bosses need to integrate

In a world of truly globalised finance, expat executives come in all shapes and sizes, according to Australia's Business Review Weekly.

Writing for the finance periodical, Kevin Chinnery explained that while some expat bosses who have lived a long time in their outpost have become immersed in the local culture, many executives are blissfully unaware of the nuances of the society they are part of.

Mr Chinnery pointed to an unnamed expat boss who moved to South Korea from California and quickly implemented a dress-down Friday initiative to boost worker morale.

"The Koreans meekly complied. But they wore collar and tie from home and changed into casual duds only when they got to work, lest the people in their street think they were unemployed," he revealed.

As well as recognising the importance of social customs, those planning a move abroad may also benefit from researching expat medical insurance policies thoroughly to avoid any shortfalls in cover.
