International Health Insurance News: Canada 'an idyll' for retiring expats
18/02/10 14:30
Those planning for a retirement abroad have been advised that Canada offers an ideal setting in which to spend one's later years.
Following a report showing that 70 per cent of retirees living in Canada found the country to be everything they had hoped for, Shelter Offshore concurred that it offers beautiful natural landscapes, vibrant city life, a high standard of living and an excellent service infrastructure.
This may make it particularly attractive to those who are keen to ensure they can spend their retirement in a country with a strong and supportive healthcare system.
"The fact that there is a government funded social health care scheme took away another potential stressor as Canadians realised that as a bottom line, they would always be looked after," Shelter Offshore commented.
For expats meanwhile, it may be worth taking out an international medical insurance policy to ensure that cost concerns do not bar access to the country's excellent medical services.
However, Expat Forum notes that some countries have reciprocal healthcare agreements with Canada to provide expats with access to state healthcare support.
