International Health Insurance News: Asia 'has much to offer'

31/08/10 17:53

Prospective expats who are looking for a change in lifestyle should try Asia because the continent has "so much to offer", Trailfinders has suggested.

Adam Waldock, PR and marketing assistant for the travel agent, said that as parts of Asia are so accessible, more travellers are choosing to spend shorter breaks in the region rather than taking the traditional months-long tour around Asian countries.

His comments came in light of a survey by Visa and the Pacific Asia Travel Association, which found Australia to be the top holiday hotspot in the region among travellers.

"You've got everything there," Mr Waldock said.

"You can pretty much do anything you like in Australia."

The survey also placed Japan in second place, which Mr Waldock attributed to its contrast between "extremely advanced Western practices and the taste of the orient".

Figures from the Ministry of Justice and the Japan National Tourist Organisation showed visits to Japan from expatriate medical insurance policyholders and other travellers increased by 2.9 per cent this year from 2009.
