International Health Insurance News: Access to OMRs 'increases satisfaction'

International health insurance customers might want to consider asking their doctor if they can see their organised medical records (OMRs).
According to research published Cancer, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Cancer Society, cancer patients who are allowed to see their medical records are likely to feel more satisfied with their treatment.
The study used a randomised selection of 350 patients who had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, colon cancer or lymphoma.
It revealed that, given the opportunity, 98 per cent of people will choose to view their OMR.
However, contrary to the apprehensions of doctors, patients' anxiety levels and quality of life remained similar to people who had not been given access to their records.
In addition, those who viewed their OMRs were 1.69 times as likely to feel satisfied with the information and 1.86 times more likely to feel that they were fully informed about the situation.
