Gulf expatriates 'are missing their families'

The Gulf's expatriate community is missing home, say a team of German psychiatrists that has recently arrived in the region.
Dr Michael Grundmann says the residents are suffering from work-related depression as they are so far from home and do not have access to their usual support network, reports the Gulf News.
According to Dr Grundmann, people aged between 20 and 35 are most susceptible to the condition as they often place themselves under the most pressure.
Carol Spiers, a local stress consultant told the publication "stress levels have outstripped anything I have seen in other great capitals".
"The sheer pace of business in the Emirates, the acutely competitive nature of the work, the exhausting heat, and now the credit crunch, applying huge extra pressures of uncertainty, financial disruption and the daunting prospect of idleness," are all contributory factors says Ms Spiers.
Expatriate life for most people is a hugely rewarding experience, with either better pay or better conditions as the driving factors for their migration.
Property however, is not always cheap - according to consultancy Reidin, Dubai is the most expensive property market in the developing world, the National reports.
