'Great value for money available in Malaysia'

Potential expat insurance customers might wish to consider moving to Malaysia where it is claimed they can get great value for money.

According to the country's deputy minister for tourism, Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib, there are likely to be numerous Britons heading to the country in 2009, reports TGG Live.

He claimed the recession and economic downturn has made the tourism industry in Malaysia "more exciting" because prices are so cheap that many people are considering travelling there.

"People recognise that accommodation and entertainment in Malaysia is not prohibitively expensive. When people come here they can have a full three-course meal for as little as £5."

With such low costs in Malaysia, the country might well draw large numbers of expats who will need overseas insurance.

However, as prices are so low in Malaysia, this would be only a minor expense compared to the saving made by living overseas for a while.

Unlike other countries in the region, such as Indonesia, Malaysia allows expatriates to own property in the country.
