'Great potential' for an expatriate in Thailand

Increasing interest in Thailand will mean that more people may want to move abroad and become an expatriate in the country, according to Homesgofast.com.

Nick Marr, chief executive of the property portal, said that as Thailand has been affected by the global economic crisis, there are an increasing number of houses available at bargain prices.

"The property market in Bangkok has a large unsold inventory of condos that offer very low prices," he said.

Mr Marr went on to say that once the cheap properties had been discovered, the market would see "overseas buyers snapping them up and increasing demand", leading to a larger expatriate community.

"It seems that developers, airlines and holiday makers see great potential in Thailand and so should overseas property buyers," he added.

Thailand's Office of Tourism Development reported in January 2009 that 2.08 million people arrived at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport in the fourth quarter of 2008.
