France 'is still attracting expat Brits'

Brits looking to pack up and begin an expatriate life are still drawn to France, often because of its different lifestyle.

The Daily Mail noted the case of one couple who, despite the weakening pound, had taken the trip across the channel and settled in Brittany.

"Life is simpler, safer and calmer," Tracey Harris told the paper.

Ms Harris sold her property in Putney and moved to an old flourmill seeking a less materialistic life.

Living costs as an expatriate may be cheaper, although these vary from country to country.

Overseas insurance should also be a consideration when moving abroad, as healthcare facilities are also different.

New arrivals should register with the country's social security system.
