Founder of Animals Taiwan launches new pet project

Sean McCormack, founder of Animals Taiwan, is launching a chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
A British expatriate, Mr McCormack has developed the project in the hope it will prevent animals from ending up "in these horrific situations in the first place", he told the Taipei Times.
Animals Taiwan is a tool for rescuing unfortunate animals, while his new venture will concentrate on campaigning for the spaying and neutering of pets.
"We can have a huge effect," he told the paper. "If we start promoting the neutering of pets and we do it properly, that alone can prevent thousands of animals being rescued in the first place."
Mr McCormack says the new SPCA chapter will announce its website within weeks and hopefully affect legal issues so animal health is taken more seriously.
Taiwan is a protectorate of China and remains a disputed territory, although the two countries' relations have improved recently with them signing a substantial trade deal.
