Flyers 'are looking for alternative ways to move abroad'

People who usually fly to overseas destinations are increasingly upset with the service they receive and are looking for alternatives, says Rail Europe.

The train company says it is the added extras which are putting people off.

Amanda Monroe, spokesperson for Rail Europe, says people "are more and more getting fed up with low cost airlines, especially when they are charging you to go to the toilet - things like that turn people off from flying and it gives them a reason to start looking for alternatives".

International movers now also consider the green implications of their decisions, she added.

"People who are concerned about the environment and are really looking for alternatives, they are going to think about taking the train."

Pressure group Friends of the Earth has also supported international travellers who looked to reduce pollution, with its Forget the Plane, Take the Train initiative.
