Expats welcomed in Russia
04/06/09 17:15
People considering emigrating from the UK to become expats in another country could choose to head to Russia.
In an online supplement for the Daily Telegraph, a top official at a Russian recruitment agency has been spelling out some of the benefits for British expats in Russia.
Konstantin Borisov, managing director of Morgan Hunt Executive Recruitment, explained that not only does Russia have well-developed private pension and medical insurance schemes, it also has the lowest income tax rate in Europe, at just 13 per cent.
Mr Borisov also explained that expats in Russia are well provided for and their families can also find it a good place to live.
"Living conditions don't differ much from those in Europe," he explained.
"There are English language schools, and also job opportunities for spouses. If a company is looking for an expat candidate, a spouse of an expat will have the advantage of living here and being aware of the Russian mentality."
Earlier this week, it was reported that a group of UK expatriates in Canada is fighting for a European Court ruling to allow their pensions to be upgraded.
