Expats should beware iPhone roaming charges

Brits keen to take their iPhone abroad with them to their expatriate lives should first contact their mobile operator.
That is the advice of independent Apple expert Jeremy Horwitz from iLounge.com who says there are some steep charges to beware.
Owners of the fashionable phones benefit from there being no iPhone specific charge for using Wi-Fi abroad, Mr Horwitz notes.
Although he warns that "any other sort of communication, whether telephone, text message, or internet use, will be charged at high foreign rates".
British expatriates will no doubt quickly find out how to connect to landline and internet connections, although if they plan to use their iPhone then speaking to their mobile operator "is a smart first step", he added.
Recent moves by the European Union have reduced the amount mobile networks can charge for calls made abroad. Since July 1st expatriates should have seen call costs lower and the price of text messages fall.
