Expats offered Thailand travel advice

People considering moving to Thailand have been warned about the importance of getting proper immunisation before heading to the country.
Dengue fever infected over 60,000 people in Thailand during the first nine months of 2008, while malaria remains a major threat to people in the country, particularly those in rural areas and near the borders with Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.
As such, Shelter Overseas is advising people preparing to move to Thailand to ensure they have received the correct jabs before becoming an expatriate.
However, it is also advisable for people preparing to make the move to ensure they have taken out expatriate medical insurance so that they will be covered in the event that they do contract a disease or become ill while in Thailand.
Expatriates in Thailand that are likely to come into contact with animals are also recommended to receive rabies immunisation.
A growing number of British people are considering moving to the south-east Asia region, as the area can still offer cheap property.
According to Christopher Chad, head of research at developing market support firm Property Frontiers, Malaysia currently has the most undervalued property in the region.
