Expats offer healthcare advice

Would-be expatriates still resident in Britain could learn how others have experienced foreign healthcare before they leave home, thanks to a new poll of expatriate views.
People from around the world who are living away from their home countries told Reuters what they think of the healthcare in their new countries.
A British executive living in Paris, Colin Wilson, 52, says he prefers the French system because it offers specialist help quickly. "The French system, of course, costs quite a bit of money," he notes.
Alexandra Vinocur, 38, is an American living in Germany. Ms Vinocur says the country has both private and public health insurance and she has felt "very well taken care of".
The NHS was praised by a US expatriate living in Britain. Mitchell Freestone, 48, has been working in London for four years.
Mr Freestone told Reuters he has been "pleasantly surprised" by the service he received: "I really have a very high regard for the NHS - the level of healthcare that is given on a universal basis is very impressive."
US president Barack Obama is hoping to reform his country's healthcare system, which has long depended on people having private healthcare insurance.
Brits moving abroad could consider the benefits of having expatriate health insurance in place before they leave.
