Expats frown on MPs' expenses scandal

British expatriates living in Dubai have spoken of their distrust of MPs following the Telegraph's expenses revelations.
Gulf News spoke to several Brits to see what their take was on politics at home.
"I don't think they should be able to get away with it (expenses) but all the parties are just as bad as each other," said Fiona Rodger, a 52-year-old IT consultant from Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.
Roz McLoughlin, a 26-year-old marketing executive from Edinburgh, Scotland, told the paper it was wrong for MPs to claim they were acting within the rules when "in reality they have been taking from the public purse".
Political parties have struggled to secure the expatriate vote, despite the fact that millions of Brits currently live abroad.
Daniel Hannan in his blog for the Telegraph notes that the estimated 800,000 Brits living in Spain and its islands could be an asset for political parties.
"But the Costa Brits, often retired and keen to put their cares behind them, rarely bother to register to vote in Spain," he said.
