Expats 'could see property legalised'

Expatriates in Spain will be pleased to hear that local authorities in Andalucia have declared 40,000 homes legal, it has been reported.
The news could put at ease some of the British expatriates that moved to Marbella, Axarquia and Mijas where many of the developments are sited.
According to the mayor of Mijas, Antonio Sanchez, 30 per cent of the homes illegally built in the town could receive official endorsement as part of its general urban plan.
Spanish website typicallyspanish.com reports that Mayor Sanchez has told owners who had already received demolition orders they will have a year to relocate.
Would-be expatriates need to be sure they are in receipt of all the correct information before proceeding with a purchase and should look to international health insurance to cover them while in Spain.
Ben Marson of accreditation expert organisation Safe Buying Experience recently told the Independent he considered Spain a place for "good discounts and a safe investment".
