Expats: Think of your skin

Brits are still not following the correct methods to protect themselves from harmful ultraviolet rays (UVR), warns an expert.

Rebecca Freeman of the British Association of Dermatologists says while understanding of the risks of skin cancer has improved, behaviour has not.

British expatriates are commonly found in countries such as Spain, Portugal and Italy, which are known to have hotter summers.

Ms Freeman's advice is for people to find out what level of protection they need to apply, based on their own skin type.

"Your skin type cannot be changed and does not vary according to how tanned you are - it is genetic," she commented.

The association of dermatologists categorises skin into a number of different types and it is these that help to determine how much protection need be applied.

Having expatriate insurance can help Brits living abroad receive the best treatment for heat-related injuries.

Reviva Skin Care Labs has claimed that by using a strong anti-oxidant cream before applying sunscreen, sun lovers will benefit from added protection.ADNFCR-1788-ID-19300669-ADNFCR
