Expatriate medical insurance news: Qatar begins H1N1 vaccinations

Qatar has commenced a nationwide H1N1 vaccination programme after taking receipt of a second consignment of the vaccine.
The Peninsula reports that the vaccine programme was launched in time for the Eid Al Adha holidays and is being administered via ten healthcare facilities located throughout the Gulf state.
Children and other vulnerable groups are receiving priority treatment and Qatar's health minister Abdullah bin Khalid al Qahtani urged all parents living in the country to ensure their children are vaccinated.
Meanwhile, Dr Mohammed Al Thani, director of the public health department at the Supreme Council of Health, said a third consignment of the vaccine was expected imminently.
"Qatar has been getting the vaccine from pharmaceutical companies of international repute. We appeal to all the people of Qatar to get vaccinated since it can prevent a H1N1 outbreak during winter," he stated.
Expats living in the country can obtain vaccinations from the Abu Hamour clinic providing they have a valid health card and ID card.
