Expatriate Medical Insurance News: Scottish expat is 'world's first' person of no specific gender

A Scottish expatriate living in Australia is thought to have become the first person to be officially known as having no specific gender.
Norrie May-Welby, a 48-year-old who was born in Paisley, Renfrewshire, moved abroad to Australia at the age of seven. Recently May-Welby asked Australian authorities to provide official documentation which showed the expat was neither male or female.
May-Welby was born male and underwent a sex change operation at the age of 23, The Scavenger reported. She then decided to become a "neuter" after two years of living as a woman and stopped taking hormone medication.
The expat's blog says: "The concepts of men or woman don't fit me. The simplest solution is not to have any sex identification."
In January this year the expat's doctors said they could not determine May-Welby as either male or female. The expat's psychological identity was neuter, so May-Welby asked for what is thought to be the world's first 'sex not specified' Recognised Details Certificate in place of a birth certificate.
