Expatriate Insurance News: Tokyo 'is most expensive place to live for expats'

Tokyo has been named the most expensive city in the world for expatriates to live in by a report published by Employment Conditions Abroad (ECA).
The Japanese capital has a costly standard of living because of the growing strength of the yen, which has increased living expenses for expats living in the country.
Oslo and Angola's capital Luanda came second and third respectively.
ECA assessed the price of a basket of day-to-day goods and services for expats in almost 400 destinations and found Scandinavia is the most expensive area in Europe due to the high rankings of both Oslo and Copenhagen.
Luanda was the most expensive African city by far. ECA regional director Lee Quane said that while this may be surprising to some, "items frequently purchased by assignees can be very expensive in Angola due to decades of war resulting in a much damaged infrastructure, making supplies difficult to get through."
Prospective expats thinking of relocating abroad could consider taking out expatriate medical insurance to help with expensive health treatment.
