Expatriate Insurance News: 'Seek culture in Singapore'
02/08/10 18:42
Expatriates living in Singapore should seek out some of the cultural experiences the city has to offer, the Singapore Tourism Board has suggested.
Eunice Yeo, area director of northern and western Europe at the board, noted that the new National Arts Gallery and the Guan Antiques and Katong Antique House may provide expat medical insurance policyholders and other travellers with an authentic look at Singaporean culture.
"Katong and Joo Chiat, for example, feature a charming collection of Peranakan experiences, from traditional shophouses with Peranakan architecture to various food and retail options," she pointed out, adding that expatriates could also take a look at Rumah Bebe, where the city's Peranakan beading specialist will show visitors intricate demonstrations.
Ms Yeo's comments follow figures released by the Singapore Tourism Board showing over a million travellers visited Singapore in July, which Ms Yeo attributes to the success of tourism campaigns such as YourSingapore.
This particular marketing strategy encourages visitors to personalise their experiences of Singapore, she added.
