Expatriate Insurance News: Israeli expats 'encouraged to return home with benefits and tax breaks'

The Israeli government is set to vote on a series of benefits and tax breaks designed to entice the country's expatriates to return home.
Expats coming home could expect to be eligible for income tax breaks for the first two-and-a-half years after their return alongside VAT reductions on home goods and new cars, the Jerusalem Post reported.
The new programme is expected to drop the health tax imposed on returning Israelis, which will allow them to start receiving healthcare insurance upon arrival, the paper said.
Before now, returning expats could only begin to receive the compulsory health insurance six months after arrival and were required to pay a fine.
Immigrant absorption minister Sofa Landver told the newspaper: "People moving here for the first time get all the benefits they need to help them stay.
"Returning Israelis don't need all this - but they will benefit from the package that we have created for them."
The expatriate programme comes two years after expats were invited to return for Israel's 60th anniversary.
Haiti is launching a similar plea for expatriates to return after the country was devastated by an earthquake earlier this year.
