Expatriate Insurance News: Germany 'is cheap compared to other countries'

29/07/10 20:02

Prospective expatriates considering relocating abroad may be surprised about how cheap the standard of living is in Germany, the country's tourist board has posited.

Press officer Wibke Carter pointed out that cheap air travel to and from the continent makes Germany an ideal spot for those looking to get away to the eurozone, while Berlin "is a lot cheaper than its European counterparts".

"Once you're in Germany, it's surprisingly affordable," she commented.

According to the Statistisches Bundesamt Deutschland, some 1.7 million British tourists visited Germany last year, and despite England's heavy defeat to Germany in the Fifa World Cup, the German National Tourist Office does not think this flow of visitors is likely to cease.

Ms Carter advised travellers coming to Berlin to check out some of the museums and architecture the city is famed for.

There is also the Berlin Festival, which is set to take place on September 10th-11th, which is expected to attract thousands of revellers.ADNFCR-1788-ID-19913661-ADNFCR
