Expatriate Insurance News: Expatriates to be welcomed to Seoul with free office space

South Korea's capital city is setting its sights on becoming an expatriate hotspot by offering free office space to expats seeking to start a business there.
Seoul City is focusing on business-building policies in the hope of attracting investment in the region and will make a greater effort to support foreigners, the Korea Times reported officials as saying.
The Seoul Global Centre will move into the Global Cluster Building in Jongno, the newspaper said, and from there it will continue to provide business start-up courses for expatriates along with offering information about business licensing and legal issues.
Choi Hang-do, head of the city's urban competitiveness headquarters, told the paper: "To attract more foreign investment, Seoul needs to be a better city for expatriates to live in.
"These foreigner-friendly policies will be tailored to the expatriates' type of stay and we will do our best to provide a more satisfying environment for all citizens in Seoul."
Currently, four per cent of the international population of Seoul come to the city for business purposes, but the entire foreign population numbered 256,000 in 2009, the newspaper said.
Those considering a move to Seoul have until May 2nd to apply for free office space at the Seoul Global Business Support Centre.
