Expatriate Healthcare News: Singapore 'needs foreign workers'

Expatriates may be taking a closer look at Singapore as the city state undergoes an employment boom, figures have shown.
The Ministry of Manpower revealed that Singapore has added an estimated 26,500 jobs to its economy in the three months ended June 2010, after the first quarter of this year witnessed the creation of 36,500 positions.
Expatriate medical insurance clients looking to relocate to Singapore may be interested to know that the city state's economy is set to be the world's fastest-expanding in 2010, after rising demand for goods and services prompted the government to raise growth forecasts for the third time this year.
"Employment continued to grow in the second quarter of 2010 as the economy expanded strongly," said the ministry.
"Unemployment has broadly stabilised, after declining sharply at the end of last year."
Singapore prime minister Lee Hsien Loong said last month that the state's economy will "overheat" if it does not recruit enough expatriate workers to cope with growth.
