Expatriates living in Brunei and Malaysia could have the chance to attend the annual Miri International Jazz Festival on May 14-15th and pay homage to their favourite jazz artists.

Now in its fifth year, the festival is aimed at the country's expatriate community along with Brunei nationals who are big jazz fans.

Some 6,000 people visited the festival last year and more are expected to come this year, Sarawak Tourism Board's chief executive officer Datuk Rashid Khan said.

Sarawak state is expected to earn around RM10 million (£2.045m) in tourism revenue by "luring expatriates from Brunei", the Malaysian Sun reported.

Deputy chief minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan told the paper that the festival is garnering a good response from expats working for international companies based in Miri.

"We also expect to see a big turnout from expatriates who are in Brunei.
We are talking about a huge number of expatriates in Brunei, mainly Filipinos, Thais, Indonesians, Europeans, Chinese, Australians, Koreans and Japanese," he said.

The festival will take place on the beachfront of Parkcity Everly Hotel.
