Expatriate Healthcare News: Interest in Turkey 'set to continue'

Expatriates thinking of relocating to Turkey had better be quick, as interest in the country is likely to continue after the summer, the Turkish Culture and Tourism Office has claimed.
Irfan Onal, director of the UK office, said 2010 has seen Istanbul becoming more popular with foreign visitors after it was crowned European Capital of Culture.
"With many Mediterranean cruises stopping off there and with low-cost airlines servicing it, it is expected to attract many foreign visitors this year," he added.
Mr Onal's comments follow figures released by the Turkish Directorate General of State Airports Authority, which revealed that 44.6 million passengers came through the nation's airports in the first six months of 2010, up 24 per cent from the same period last year.
The country's main airport, Istanbul Ataturk, accounted for a third (33 per cent) of the nation's total air and passenger traffic.
Mr Onal commented that "the usual holiday spots on the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts" could be popular with expatriates and other foreign visitors this summer, while lesser-known destinations such as the Black Sea coast could attract curious holidaymakers searching for the undiscovered Turkey.
