Expatriates and other types of traveller should try visiting Hong Kong in November to indulge their foodie side, the island's tourism board has said.

Anthony Lau, executive director of the board, pointed out that this year has been designated as Festive Hong Kong 2010, where the island has taken on board a wide ranging cultural programme.

However, November will be Hong Kong Wine and Dine month, which kicks off with a festival at the end of October.

"Visitors can enjoy gourmet food and award-winning wines from around the world, as well as live music and entertainment" against the backdrop of the Victoria Harbour and cityscape, Mr Lau explained.

For expats and tourists visiting before November, there is the Mid-Autumn Festival and the harvest moon celebrations in September as well as the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance show, which is set to take place between September 21st and 23rd.

Mr Lau's comments come as the tourist board released data showing that the number of visitors to Hong Kong in the first half of this year topped 16 million.
