Expatriate Healthcare News: Expats moving to Canada 'should apply soon'

Potential expatriates considering relocating to Canada are being urged to submit their migration applications within the next few weeks to avoid being turned down when major immigration changes come into force.
The Canadian government is expected to cut the number of occupations on the Priority Occupation List but has given no indication as to which of the 38 areas of employment will be removed after the deadline of September 30th 2010.
Would-be expats whose occupation is not on the revised list will not be eligible to apply and it could take several years before an opportunity to move to Canada arises again, Nigel Smith of the Canadian Visa Bureau said.
The list is of areas of employment deemed to be in great demand and eligible for migration without the requirement of a pre-arranged job offer by a Canadian employer.
"Potential migrants should notify us as soon as possible if they are considering proceeding as we will need to allocate sufficient resources to deal with the surge in lodgements that will inevitably result from this announcement," Mr Smith advised.
