Expatriate Healthcare News: Expats in Turkey offered online community project

An expatriate living in the Turkish port town of Bodrum is planning to unite the expat community through an online venture.

Susan Marechal will be hosting get-togethers as part of InterNations, an online community that connects people around the globe wherever they live and work, Voices Newspaper reported.

The expat read about InterNations' Istanbul group in the Hurriyet Daily News and went along to their next meeting, where she met the community's founder, Gundula Strittmatter.

"There is an obvious demand for a group of this calibre within the local international community," she told Voices.

"This group is geared toward people who have either lived abroad or were born in other countries, or local people who enjoy meeting new people from all walks of life and in every occupation."

She is now hoping the expatriate community in Bodrum will want to meet up with like-minded expats to network and socialise.

InterNations' events have already included Valentine's Day meet-ups in various cities which have raised money for the Haitian earthquake clean-up operation.
