Expatriate Healthcare News: Expats 'are investing in UAE'

British expatriates are increasingly turning to the United Arab Emirates in their search for overseas property, according to PropertyShowrooms.com.

The website's media manager, Terry Hobbs, said buyers are returning to the UAE.

"It is starting to come back, but we are still not seeing the same levels of traffic as we were a year and a half or two years ago – nowhere near as much," he commented, adding that there is still "quite a lot of fear" surrounding the property market in the emirates.

He advised investors to consider purchasing homes in countries such as Greece instead, as although the country does not seem like the safest investment in the world, it is a lot cheaper than it would be to invest in Dubai.

Mr Hobbs' comments come in the light of research by Asteco, which showed that apartment rental rates in Abu Dhabi fell by between seven and 15 per cent in the second quarter of 2010 compared to the first three months of the year.
