Expat medical insurance news: Taiwan outlines medical reform

The Taiwanese government has outlined a plan to improve national medical facilities in order to promote inbound medical tourism.
The International Medical Travel Journal reports that the new five-year budget plan includes a three-year programme to bring the country's healthcare facilities up to internationally recognised standards.
Working with partner organisations and healthcare facilities, the Department of Health's Taiwan Task Force for Medical Travel has signed a number of high-profile agreements with international firms to share expertise in overhauling the country's healthcare system.
The organisation is already seeing the results of this investment in an increase in the numbers of medical tourists visiting the country.
As well as promoting medical tourism, the investment may also make Taiwan an attractive destination for those who are considering moving overseas, particularly those who are keen to look after their health in later years.
