Expat medical insurance news: Majorca has reinvented itself

23/12/09 12:30

Majorca has successfully transformed its image into a rich cultural destination offering an authentic Spanish experience, according to Mallorca Farmhouses.

A spokesperson for the specialist holiday villa company explained that while the Balearic island has long been a popular tourist haunt thanks to its pristine beaches, enchanting scenery, family attractions and accommodation options, it is also now recognised as a major cultural hotspot.

"Majorca is steeped in tradition and, as such, there are lots of events which take place throughout the year which visitors can enjoy. Many of these are completely free which is even better for those on a budget," said the representative.

For those considering a move to the island, the Telegraph's resident expat blogger Anna Nicholas recommended researching international health insurance options thoroughly.

Speaking to Ms Nicholas, Rebecca Bellafont-Evans, managing director of Mallorca Solutions, which aids expats with residency problems, said around 90 per cent of expats who move to the island do so without first checking their entitlement to healthcare provision.
