Expat charity team adrift
02/07/09 18:29
A rowing team of British expatriates is adrift off Mauritius, it has been reported.
The crew, who are competing in a sponsored charity race across the Indian Ocean, are all British expatriates living in New Zealand.
Tom Wigram, 30; Matthew Hampel, 32; Chris Gammon, 35; and Pete Staples, 38 form the Rowing for Prostrate crew, which is currently the focus of a search by race organisers.
The Times reported the boat was 500 miles from the finish line and it is hoped a support crew will reach them today.
New Zealand is particularly attractive to British people who are looking for adventure and a life nearer to the elements.
Not only does it offer spectacular scenery and coastal features, it is well placed to hosts winter sports, such as skiing and snowboarding.
