Foreigners hoping to set up a business in Germany should be prepared to overcome a number administrative obstacles, Expatica Germany has advised.
According to the online expat community, there is a lot of paperwork involved in establishing a new business, while entrepreneurs will also be expected to familiarise themselves with local business and employment law, as well as auditing and accounting techniques.
"Launching and running an expatriate-owned business might not be as straightforward as you imagined, especially when it comes to dealing with the locals," the site added, explaining that it may be difficult to integrate within the business community.
However, Germany does have a sizable international business culture and fellow expats may be able to offer advice on how to bed a new business in, the expat portal added.
Elsewhere the site has advised that some level of expat healthcare insurance will be required in Germany, as healthcare protection is a prerequisite of a permanent residence permit.
