Expat Medical Insurance News: Seoul to create expat district
27/01/10 12:15
The planning authorities for the South Korean capital Seoul are planning to develop a high-end residential area in the Seocho district which will be built to accommodate expats working in the country.
Speaking to Korea Times, Park Sung-joong, head of the Seocho District Office, said the new development will be named Global Town and will help to improve facilities and community experiences for expats living in the city.
"Talented foreigners are one of the most valuable assets for private companies. It's not an exaggeration at all to say that they play a pivotal role in determining a company's international competiveness," he said, adding that high-quality residential accommodation and educational facilities are key to attracting top talent.
Elsewhere, Expat Focus has reported that workers moving to the country may find that as well as being of a high standard, healthcare in South Korea is also considerably cheaper than other industrialised nations such as the US.
However, an expat medical insurance policy may be a worthwhile investment to cover complex or sustained treatments and operations.
