Expat Medical Insurance News: Putting Korea's expat tax rules in perspective

The hot topic for many expats currently living in South Korea is the proposed changes to taxation rules for non-nationals living in the country.
But while many people have predicted a mass exodus of frontline expat workers, one expat has urged people to keep the proposals in perspective.
Writing for Joong Ang Daily, John Rodgers, an expat living in Seoul, explained that at this stage, there is a lack of clarity as to the precise nature of the proposed changes, making the claims of an expat exodus wholly speculative.
His comments came in response to an article by fellow expat David Woelke in the same paper warning that China may soon see an influx of expat teachers as foreigners working in Korea go in search of more favourable tax rules.
"I believe we'd better first get all the facts about this supposedly approaching tax alteration before we forecast mass departure and criminal activity," suggested Mr Rodgers.
