Expat Medical Insurance News: Indonesia seeks more healthcare opportunities for expats

Indonesia is eyeing more healthcare opportunities for its Qatar-based nationals, country officials have said.
According to the Gulf Times, the country is poised to give priority to medical and paramedical jobs in a bid to encourage the placement of its professionals, mainly nurses, in hospitals and clinics across the country.
"This is because a large number of our people, especially housemaids, are finding it difficult to communicate with the staff at the country’s hospitals,” Indonesian embassy’s charge de affaires Andang Pramana Sosodro said.
He added that the Indonesian embassy is expecting a positive reaction following the efforts of late ambassador Ruzy Munir who had raised the issue with concerned officials.
Sosodro reiterated that the Indonesian embassy in Qatar was committed to protecting the interests of its workers, adding that it was now anticipating the full implementation of the agreement on labour that was signed between the two countries in the beginning of 2008.
