Expat Medical Insurance News: Healthcare 'a top priority for expats'
18/02/10 14:30
One of the key considerations for those planning a move overseas will be arranging healthcare in their new home country, one expat living in Turkey has claimed.
Writing for Today's Zaman, Elle Loftis, who moved to Istanbul seven years ago, said that finding an English-speaking doctor was not a difficult task, and she was reassured to find that many of the secretaries and nurses in her local clinic also spoke excellent English.
"I was excited to learn Turkish, but not when it came to my health. No, I needed to make sure I could express myself and be understood clearly by someone who knew my native tongue," she explained.
Shelter Offshore has also reassured potential expats that Turkey's healthcare system is both advanced and affordable, although taking out an expat medical insurance policy may help people insulate themselves against the costs of sustained treatment in the event of unexpected illness or injury.
