Expat Medical Insurance News: Expat pupils may benefit from online maths tutor

09/03/10 18:01

Expat parents anxious about their children's maths knowledge can now use a new online programme to make sure their kids don't fall behind the national curriculum in the UK, a news report has said.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the idea behind the site, which was developed by pop-up book artist Ron van der Meer, is that by using the information about how many of the maths problems the students answer correvtly, the online "tutor" is able to determine their level in that particular field of mathematics and tailor the course to suit.

"If the student fails to grasp something, the tutor is programmed so that, after a while, it will explain the problem in a different way - like a good teacher," Richard Marrett, managing director of Whizz Education, was quoted as saying.

The online tutor is designed to be used for one hour a week, with the role of the parent being to ensure there is an appropriate learning environment.
