Expat Health Insurance News: Vietnam drafts new rules for overseas workers

05/03/10 13:00

A number of Vietnamese organisations are working together to overhaul existing rules for expats working overseas.

The Vietnam News Agency reports that the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (SCOV) are drafting guidelines for new legislation that will pave the way for the creation of new government bodies to promote expat workers' interests.

The three bodies to be created will be named the Overseas Vietnamese Association, the Overseas Vietnamese Contact Association and the Overseas Vietnamese Relatives Association.

Both the VFF and the SCOV have stressed that the new bodies must be able to operate independently and with considerable executive agency.

As well as ensuring their employment arrangements are in order, those planning a move overseas may also benefit from taking out an expat medical insurance policy to cover healthcare costs.

Expat health insurance policies may be of particular importance in countries such as Vietnam, where access to social medical provision may be limited.ADNFCR-1788-ID-19652643-ADNFCR
