Expat Health Insurance News: Sanlam follows South Africans to Australia
24/02/10 13:00
South African wealth management firm Sanlam has announced another international expansion to support the expat community in Australia.
The company recognises that Australia is a popular destination for emigrating South Africans and with the country's economy proving remarkably resilient through the financial crisis, a greater exodus is expected as South Africans look abroad for jobs.
Group chief executive Daniel Kriel told Fin 24 that on average one South African emigrates to Australia every day.
She added that the company's decision to launch a new venture in the region, named Calibre Investments, will help ordinary South Africans secure a firm financial footing in their new country.
While financial considerations are likely to be a strong point of focus for those making a move abroad, Shelter Offshore has reminded potential expats to take care of international healthcare insurance arrangements as well.
Assessing what level of expat healthcare insurance is necessary will help to ensure there are no gaps in cover, while also helping to avoid paying over the odds for unnecessary protection.
