Expat Health Insurance News: Healthcare crucial when deciding whether to move or not, says guide

Following a recent survey by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's saying that up to 42 per cent over 55s in the UK are actively contemplating a relocation abroad, Shelter Offshore has published a guide to help these people make the best decision.
According to the website, those pondering relocating abroad should take into consideration a country's healthcare services before deciding whether to move or not.
Shelter Offshore says that a number of countries have a reciprocal agreement with the UK to offer free healthcare for retired persons, adding however that this usually applies to those who move abroad after the age of 60 or 65.
The website says that in those countries "there is perhaps a good healthcare system, it's probably private, and you're going to have to pay for it. Look at the costs involved and how you will be able to afford them."
Other factors that Shelter Offshore's guide lists as important for those who are considering a move abroad include the people, accessibility, climate, crime, language, housing, social care, fellow expats and entertainment.
