02/06/10 17:51
An expatriate has been found dead in her Dubai flat and is thought to have been murdered.
Scottish expat Maria McClymont, 50, was reportedly stabbed through the heart with a knife before her killer stole her gold jewellery.
The body of Ms McClymont, a human resources manager and mother of three, lay for four days before it was discovered.
Her family allege she was killed by a local man she had recently befriended.
Ms McClymont's sister, Sheena Aitken, told the Daily Record that the suspect, who is on the run, has ruined their lives.
"Things will never be the same again," she added.
The victim moved to Dubai last December to take up a promotion, having lived in Saudi Arabia for 20 years.
She had met her Saudi Arabian former husband in Edinburgh and went to the Middle East with him to marry.
They eventually split after he took another wife.
Saudi's British embassy spokesman Simon Goldsmith said the embassy was aware of the case and was offering full consular assistance.
