Expat Health Insurance News: Community support aplenty in Turkey

17/02/10 13:00

Expats living in Turkey will find no shortage of community organisations to help them build a network of friends and professional contacts, according to Today's Zaman.

The paper reports that the number of foreign residents living in the country is continuing to rise respectably, with an increasing contingent of EU residents choosing to bed their roots in Turkey.

And while large cultural institutions such as the British Council, the Spanish Cervantes Institute, the French Institute and the German Goethe Institute are likely to be welcomed by incoming expats, there are also many smaller organisations established to provide a forum for people with specific interests.

"There are many, many more groups that have general meetings and which encourage members to learn about their new city, its culture, activities, and lifestyle and to develop friendships," the paper claimed.

Those considering a move to Turkey may wish to take out an expat health insurance policy to ensure full access to the country's healthcare infrastructure, which Shelter Offshore assures is of a high standard.
