Dubai offers funding for expatriate study opportunities

The British University in Dubai (BUiD) has announced its post-graduate funding for the coming year and is offering a number of opportunities for expatriates.

For the previous academic year 45 per cent of awards went to expatriates who used the scholarships to cover the costs of their further education and living expenses.

Dr Abdullah Alshamsi, vice-chancellor of BUid, says the university's mission is "to provide internationally-recognised research and academic development to the growing number of talented individuals based in the UAE United Arab Emirates".

Top firms have contributed money to help fund the scholarships, as have governmental ministries.

Dr Alshamsi noted the university encourages and supports "dedicated individuals through our extensive academic and scholarship offerings".

Scholarships for expatriates looking to continue or return to education are available in education, finance and banking, human resource management, information technology, IT management, project management, systems engineering, and sustainable design of the built environment.

According to property firm Buy Association, Dubai is increasingly popular with British second-property buyers.
