Dubai gets cheaper for would-be expatriates

UK residents considering a permanent move abroad could take advantage of a further price fall in Dubai's troubled housing market.

Prices in the region's Springs area have tumbled 32 per cent year-on-year, says Charles Neil, chief executive of the Landmark Advisory.

"We have witnessed a price drop in the market that while continuing is showing signs of stabilising in certain locations," Mr Neil noted.

Huge investments have been made into infrastructure, property and leisure projects in Dubai, in the hope it will become an international business hub.

However, according to international credit agency Moody's, the economic slowdown could even reduce the expatriate population.

Expatriate life is not for everyone - before taking the plunge and moving lock, stock and barrel, Brits should assess carefully the opportunities their country of choice offers expatriates.
