Dubai authorities 'consider stricter public rules'

Officials in Dubai are reviewing new guidelines, which could affect the expatriate experience in the United Arab Emirates.
Revealed by local news provider El Emarat al-Youm, the restrictions could apply to playing music and showing personal affection in public places.
Dubai has attracted many expatriates and most are happy to adapt to local and religious conventions.
The region has been at the centre of a property boom, one that has attracted international developers and new residents looking for cheap property.
However, a downturn in international commercial property has recently forced rental values down.
This has encouraged people to move to areas that were previously too expensive, a poll by the Khaleej Times has revealed.
The survey found rental values had fallen as much as 45 per cent in some districts.
Sales Manager at property consultant Sherwoods, Vincent Easton, told the paper he is also seeing more people moving to accommodation outside of the centres.
"Even though they face commutes of up to an hour that's what most people are used to in places such as the UK," he commented.
